On Friday, September 30th, CBEAR researchers from the University of Delaware went to the USDA Farmers Market, just off the National Mall in Washington DC. At this event, CBEAR conducted research on consumer preferences for various types of produce. In collaboration with CONSERVE: A Center of Excellence at the Nexus of Sustainable Water Reuse, Food and Health, researchers intercepted shoppers to understand their decisions surrounding produce purchases for produce irrigated with non-traditional water sources.
CBEAR would like to thank the USDA Economic Research Service and the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service for their support and collaboration in conducting this study at the farmers market. Funding for this research was provided by the CONSERVE grant, funded by the USDA National Institute for Food and Agriculture. A full review of this study at the USDA Farmers Market can be found on the USDA Blog.
