“I am happy to announce the very first annual Summer Institute in Field Experiments (SIFE), to be held at the University of Chicago on July 12-16, 2015. The Institute is organized by myself, John List, and colleagues.
SIFE aims to invite the brightest 20 young scholars in the world through a competitive application process. The objectives are to train the scholars in the field experiment method, position them for success by providing connections within business and government, and use the institute as a catalyst for field experiment research.
As part of the institute, scholars will listen to lectures from leading economists on the best practices of field experimentation. Then, scholars will receive real-world problems, which have been submitted to us from industry and government, and will spend the week developing proposed testable solutions. At the end of the institute, we plan to “match” selected scholars with practitioners to carry out the proposed research projects.
* Who is eligible? Everyone! PhD students and junior faculty will benefit from the institute. In addition, senior faculty who are wishing to expand their area of expertise to the field experiment methodology and looking for practitioner partners can benefit.
* How to apply?
Visit our website and apply: http://sife.spihub.org/
We will review applications on a rolling basis starting Feb 15, 2015. While all applications received by March 1st, 2015 will receive consideration, the earlier you apply the more likely it is that we will be able to “match” you with a partner.
* Will travel be covered?
We will provide some travel funding to invitees. The institute is funded by a new grant we have received from the John and Laura Arnold Foundation and co-hosted by the Science of Philanthropy Initiative.”
